Francisco de los Cobos. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology, a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Sociology, and is a university expert in Cooperative Studies from the Complutense University. He works as a tenured professor at the University of Castilla-La Mancha in the Department of Philosophy, Art, Sociology, and Aesthetics. His research focuses on the social aspects of railroads and the social history of labor.
Miguel Muñoz Rubio. A historian who studied at the Autonomous University of Madrid, where he earned his doctorate and taught for ten years. He has spent his professional career at the Spanish Railways Foundation, where he has directed its library, historical archive, and museum in Madrid. He is currently president of ASIHF. His research has focused on the Spanish railroads, and he has published numerous works examining the role they have played in economic and social life. Notable among these are *Renfe (1941–1991): Half a Century of Public Railways*;*150 Years of Spanish Railway History* (co-author);*Labor Organizations and Repression in the Railways: An International Perspective*(editor); and“Ochocientos brazos.” The Labor Movement on the Railroads During the Franco Regime. He is the author of some one hundred monographs, book chapters, and journal articles.
Pedro Pablo Ortúñez. Professor of History and Economic Institutions at the University of Valladolid, where he teaches. His primary research focuses on the Spanish railway system prior to nationalization, its regulation, and the history of companies and the public sector. He is vice president of the Board of the International Railway History Association andassociate editor of the Editorial Board of the journal*Transportes, Servicios y Telecomunicaciones*.
Francisco Polo Muriel. Historian; Ph.D. in History from the Autonomous University of Madrid and Bachelor’s degree in Geography and History from the Complutense University of Madrid. His research has focused on various areas related to railway history, including its economic, social, and heritage aspects. In the field of railway heritage preservation, he has participated in drafting projects and studies for transportation museums and for the enhancement and conservation of railway towns.
He is the author of the book *The Purge of Railway Personnel during the Civil War and the Franco Regime (1936–1975) * , published in 2019, based on the doctoral dissertation of the same name defended in 2015. He currently continues to explore aspects related to the repression of the railway community during the Civil War and the Franco regime from regional and gender perspectives. He has directed, coordinated, and co-authored several other publications.
He has carried out his professional career at ADIF, at the Autonomous University of Madrid, where he was an associate professor from 2005 to 2009, and at the Spanish Railways Foundation, where he served as director of the Madrid Railway Museum from 2019 to 2024. He is currently the Manager of Historical Research and Documentary Heritage at that foundation.
Juan Carlos Ponce. Ph.D. in Hispanic Philology from the University of Barcelona (UB) and Bachelor’s degree from the University of Valladolid. Author of the doctoral dissertation *Literature and the Railroad in Spain*, published by the Spanish Railways Foundation, which examines the literary legacy of the railroad in Spain during the post-Romantic, Realist, and Generation of ’98 periods.
Author of various publications and papers related to the cultural and social aspects of railways, as well as a speaker at specialized conferences. He holds a Master’s degree in Communication Management in Organizations (UB). He is a PDM and Pro-Social Consultant at ESADE SOCIAL. He is a railway expert with extensive experience in the international field of high-speed rail connections.
