The year 2018 marks the 150th anniversary of “La Gloriosa,” the liberal revolution that gave rise to the Democratic Six-Year Period—a time during which our country’s government most closely adhered to liberal doctrines and which played a pivotal role in the development of the railroad itself. ASIHF, in collaboration with the University of Valladolid, the Simancas University Institute of History, the Valladolid City Council, and IR: Research in Economic History (University of Valladolid), has organized a history conference with the aim of analyzing the role played by liberalism in the history of Spain’s railroads between 1848 and 1936.

On September 28, 2018, various experts will examine the role played by the railroad in the origins of the revolution and the influence that Liberalism had on railroad policies throughout this entire period. The participants in this session are experts of recognized national and international standing.
