The Association wishes to express its deep sorrow at the passing, yesterday, February 19, of Pere Pascual, our Honorary President. Since the founding of ASIHF—of which Pere Pascual was the first president—he never ceased to do everything in his power to support its establishment and growth. It is an honor for us to have had a historian of his caliber, as he was not only one of the pioneers of Spanish railway historiography but also a role model for his exemplary research. Today, the history of railways in Spain—and particularly in Catalonia—cannot be fully understood without the contributions of Pere Pascual. Furthermore, he set an example through his personal demeanor, which was always marked by modesty and a spirit of collaboration with others.
He will remain in our memories forever.
