The Scientific Committee’s decisions will be announced by July 10, 2024. Presenters of accepted papers must submit an extended abstract of 10,000 characters by September 30, 2024.
The conference is open to scholars and researchers working in museums, archives, and other cultural institutions, as well as professionals and scholars of railway history in general from around the world.
The main objective of the conference is to address the environmental study of the multiple aspects of mobility, proposing a critical interpretation of modernity and the economic process. The conference aims to adopt a long-term perspective, from the origins of the railroad worldwide to the present day. The relationship between railways and environmental sustainability is a crucial factor in understanding broader issues such as globalization, economic development, and the search for new models of mobility. In this context, the conference will also address the methodological debate between public and private transportation, which has long been neglected due to the clear dominance of the latter over the former.
